This historically accurate clothing in Zebulon Pike and the Blue Mountain was the work of Costume Designer Carol Cartmell M.A. in Clothing & Textiles and minor in Theater.

No examples existed for the military uniforms used in Zebulon Pike and the Blue Mountain due to the British invasion and destruction of Washington, D.C. during the War of 1812 when this information was destroyed.

Carol pieced together the design of this clothing with the help of historians at: the Smithsonian Institution, division of military history (Don Kloster); the National Museum of Natural History, division of anthropology (Herman Viola); the National Archives, and James Kochan (U.S. Army Historian for the period 1783 to 1830). Also of great help were the personnel at the military history museum at Fort Carson, Colorado.
